Sessions Psychotherapy
Online therapy in California
Who we are
We are an eclectic, non-traditional group of California psychotherapists dedicated to meeting you wherever you are in your journey. We believe in your inherent resilience and have an affirming, integrative approach to therapy because all of you, all of your identities, and all of your parts matter. Our goal is to provide safe, non-judgmental spaces for adults, children, and teens to explore their authentic selves and for couples and families to explore their relationships more deeply. Each therapist in our practice is warm and compassionate, and has their own unique way of working and being—get to know them more here.
When we say we want to meet you wherever you are, we mean it! All therapy sessions are online, so you can log in for your session from wherever you find yourself in California—whether that’s the safety and comfort of your own home, next to your favorite tree, or huddled in a conference room at work.

Lauren Gogarty, LMFT is a psychotherapist, professor of psychology, and clinical supervisor. She is currently on the faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies and was previously the Director of the Trauma Studies Certificate at John F. Kennedy University (JFKU). Her style as a clinical supervisor leans heavily in the direction of teaching, so her associates wind up being very well trained!

She received her master’s degree in Holistic Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Buddhist Psychology, from JFKU in 2013.
FAQs
-
If you fill in our email form, the therapist(s) you choose will contact you to set up a brief 15-minute phone consultation. During this call, you will have the opportunity to ask any initial questions that you may have in order to determine whether you’d like to pursue a face-to-face therapy session. Depending on your decision, we’ll next schedule an “intake” session, where we will further explore the possibility together. Sometimes, the decision to work together is made after several sessions, when you can get a better feel for whether or not treatment with that psychotherapist is right for you.
-
In our initial consultation call, we’ll discuss the therapy schedule that fits your needs best. Typically, we’ll set aside a specific date and time to meet each week. Based on your treatment, a higher frequency of sessions may be advised, and as you reach your goals, we often drop down to every two weeks or every month before ending altogether.
-
Sessions last 50 minutes for individuals, and either 50 or 80 minutes for couples and families.
-
Your unique factors will influence the length of your treatment. For some, therapy spanning the course of several months is sufficient. For others, a treatment over the course of several years is a better fit.
If, at any time during your treatment, you feel that you are not benefitting from therapy, we invite you to start a conversation with your therapist about that. Those thoughts and feelings are important, and could be helpful in finding a new direction for your therapy.
-
Our sessions cost $150 per hour. We do not bill insurance but we do provide a monthly receipt (called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance. Typically insurance companies reimburse out of network providers anywhere between 40% and 100%. You can check with your insurance to see what they will cover.
